How to Apply

Sign up to attend a live online info session or request a link to watch our series of informational videos. Once you’ve attended an info session or viewed the videos, you can then go ahead and fill out your application.

Application Deadlines

We accept applications on a rolling basis so you can apply whenever you’re ready. We’ll get back to you right away to let you know we’ve received your application.

  • You may apply for the program before you have completed the prerequisites, however, you will not be accepted into a program until you have satisfied the prerequisites.

If you are accepted, we will send a letter of acceptance that includes your course track, details about tuition, and program requirements.

Admission Requirements

To enter an SVC certificate program, you must have taken any required prerequisite courses or be able to demonstrate your proficiency.

English Proficiency

Basic English speaking skills are required to enroll in the certificate programs. If you are not a native English speaker, a TOEFL iBT score of 92 or above is sufficient.

International Students

SVC’s certificate programs do not enable students to obtain or maintain F-1 visas.

Technology Requirements

Classes require access to a Mac or PC laptop with a high-speed internet connection.

Earning a Certificate

Students must adhere to the School’s accountability policy and complete all assignments in required courses in order to earn their certificate.

Student Accountability

  • Students must arrive on time, which means being in the classroom — whether in-person or via Zoom — at least five minutes before the start of class.

  • Students cannot miss more than one session of a five-week class or more than two sessions of a ten-week class without instructor's permission. Students who exceed these unexcused absences will be required to drop the course and retake it during a future quarter on a space-available basis or be removed from the certificate program.

  • Students must complete all homework assignments to satisfactorily complete the class and move on in the program.

  • Students are expected to do original work and conform to the accepted standards of academic honesty.

  • When working with classmates on a group project, every student is expected to perform their fair share of the work, delivered on time and at a high-quality level.

Code of Conduct

  1. Integrity  We ask that everyone involved with SVC — instructors, students, and staff — bring honesty, character, and integrity to our dealings with each other. This means students are expected to produce assignments that reflect the highest standards of professionalism and original thinking. Instructors, meanwhile, are expected to prepare high quality, professional teaching materials and clearly point out sources when using third-party materials.

  2. Inclusivity  We respect the different backgrounds each of us come from, and show that respect by not making any kind of remark or taking any kind of action that could be construed as discriminatory because of a person’s gender, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or experience level. We also do not tolerate harassment of students, staff, or instructors in any form. Discriminatory or sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any school venue, including classes, social events, and social media. Students violating these rules may be removed from classes without a refund, while instructors and staff may be dismissed.

  3. Propriety  Because romantic relationships between instructors, staff, and students can lead to favoritism and awkward situations, we ask that you not engage in such relationships while associated with SVC.

  4. Courtesy  We respect freedom of speech and academic freedom, and openly encourage a wide range of opinions to be shared at SVC. It’s essential, though, when we speak or listen to an opposing point of view — including the giving and taking of critiques on student work — that we do it with unfailing courtesy.

  5. Privacy   We will respect and protect our faculty, students’ and community partners’ privacy by not sharing any personal information without express permission. By the same token, we expect every member of the SVC community to maintain the confidentiality of any information they receive. This is especially critical for those who work with capstone clients, as these organizations are sharing business and organizational information and data that must be kept confidential.

  6. Sobriety  We want our students and faculty focused and engaged while at SVC. If we sense that you are under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, or other drugs, or that drugs have been used while you are in class, you will be dismissed from the School for the remainder of the session.
