What happened to the AI for Design Systems talk?
If you landed on this page to learn about the free presentation, AI for Design Systems, we cancelled that talk due to a family emergency that came up for our guest speaker, Felix Chandran. But, knowing the interest among UX designers in AI, we asked one of our long-time SVC instructors, Tim Aidlin, to fill in for Felix. He won’t be talking about AI and Design Systems, specifically, but will instead be sharing some of the research he’s been doing on how AI tools can be brought into the UX design process. We’d like to thank Tim for his last-minute heroics and we also wish Felix the very best.

Why Take This Course?
Is AI coming for your UX design job or is it coming to make your job easier? As eternal optimists, we're going for Option B. And so we’ve invited a very experienced UX designer and manager, Tim Aidlin, to share some of his AI experiments. He’s found a number of AI tools that can make your life as a designer easier, freeing you from time-consuming chores and allowing you to concentrate on creativity and strategy.

Course Description
In this free community talk, Tim Aidlin will share some of the work he’s been doing aided by AI tools in his UX design practice. Here are some of the topics he’ll be covering:

  • AI - Friend or foe?

  • Using Large Language Models for UX research and synthesis, including ChatGPT, Bing, Bard, and others

  • Ways to bring generative AI into the design exploration process; specifically tools that enable text-to-image, text-to-video, and digital doubling

  • AI tools for site building, information architecture, and wireframing

  • Why you should get on board and run your own experiments

  • Audience participation: An opportunity to share any tools you’ve discovered and how you’re using them

Who Should Take This Class?
This free talk is for anyone working in user experience design and curious about how AI tools can aid in that work.
