Why Take This Course?
If you’ve been using Figma for any length of time, you probably noticed how easy it was to get rolling — and then how hard it can be to get on top of some of the more advanced features. Did we just hear someone moan, “Auto Layout! Variables! Modes!”? Even that’s not all that complicated once someone with some experience has shown you how. And that’s the entire point of this workshop — to help you take the next step with Figma so you can tap into all the amazing things it can do to speed up your workflow and make your prototypes even cooler than they already are.

Course Description
We’ll combine demonstration and hands-on practice as we create three complex prototypes over the two sessions of this workshop. Here are a few of the topics we’ll be covering:

  • Overview of fundamental Figma features (including more Auto Layout techniques)

  • Using sections

  • Variables and collections

  • Default and auto modes: what they do and when to use each

  • Building and managing design systems in Figma

  • Branching and merging

  • Using smart animation techniques

  • Advanced prototyping with variables, conditionals, and expressions

Who Should Take This Class?
This class is for UX, UI, and content designers who need to create advanced, fully functional Figma prototypes, especially in a collaborative environment.

Prerequisites and Requirements
You must have taken Figma Fundamentals or be fluent in using Figma at a basic level. We recommend using dual monitors for this class. The Figma software we’ll be using for this course is free.
