Why Take This Course?
One of the underlying principles of user experience is you don’t launch a product or feature without first finding out what real users think of it. That makes the ability to produce a prototype that closely resembles the finished product essential. And that’s where Figma comes in. With this amazingly full-featured software, you can create convincing simulations of interactivity so you can do meaningful usability testing of your work. Because Figma also has some first-rate collaboration tools, it’s become the favorite of teams doing UX and content design at the highest levels. Does it sound a little intimidating? It’s not. Figma is a joy to learn and use.

Course Description
In this class, we’ll combine demonstration, hands-on practice, a wee bit of lecture, homework assignments, and a lot of practical experience in creating a complex prototype over the two sessions of this workshop. Here are a few of the topics we’ll be covering:

  • Getting familiar with Figma’s pen tool, instant arc, and OpenType features

  • Using auto-layout, libraries, and design systems to speed projects along

  • Working with others via Figma’s collaboration and reviewing tools

  • Using plug-ins with Figma

  • Exporting files with developer-ready specs and assets

  • Migrating from Sketch/InVision and other prototyping tools

Prerequisites and Requirements
There are no prerequisites, but we recommend you have a dual-monitor setup when you take this class. The Figma software we’ll be using for this course is free.
