Why Take This Course?
If you're part of an in-house group — or if you manage one — we don't have to tell you what a grind it can be to work on the same subjects day in and day out. Finding new ways to tackle repetitive assignments is truly a challenge. Then there’s the matter of getting the ear and earning the respect of leadership. In this workshop, we'll share practical tips for keeping it fresh and — even more important — building your team’s reputatioin as a valuable consultant, not just an order-taker.

Who Should Take This Class?
This workshop is for managers, designers, writers, and project managers who work as members of in-house comms and creative teams.

Course Outcomes

  • Learn how to position your team internally as knowledgeable consultants and true brand stewards

  • Building partnerships and trust with marketers, product managers, and other internal clients

  • Develop methods for bringing new creativity and enthusiasm to projects, even when the content and objectives are repeats of previous efforts

Course Description

In this workshop, we’ll turn to a combination of presentation and practice to help your team learn how to strengthen its reputation and influence internally, while also finding ways to approach the same old assignment with new vitality. We’ll cover these topics and more:

  • Understanding what matters most to leadership and making sure those points are baked into your work and how it’s presented

  • Finding ways to stay inspired when the assignments don’t change much from month to month

  • How to measure results, write brief case studies, and publicize your good, effective work back to leadership

  • Learning to “own the brand” and position your team as the recognized experts on your organization’s brand and design standards

  • Competing and partnering with outside agencies and deciding when you should outsource work
