Why Take This Course?
There is so much being written and spoken about AI these days, it’s nearly impossible to know what you should pay attention to and what’s merely jazz hands. But the truth is, there are now AI-powered tools that can be truly helpful as you research, strategize, and design your projects. These aren’t tools that replace your uniquely human insights and creativity. Rather, they can do much of the grunt work and fact-gathering to create more time for you to do what you do best. In other words, we won’t get into tools that whip out wireframes and web copy, but we will show you platforms that can help you
come up with better ideas faster.

Who Should Take This Class?
This course is for UX researchers, product managers, product designers, UX writers, and anyone whose team needs to solve design problems quickly.

Course Outcomes

  • Learn how to harness AI-powered tools to assist you at each state of the design thinking process — from developing an empathetic understanding of the user to testing your final design

  • Develop skill at crafting the verbal prompts that most AI-based tools use to complete their tasks

  • Place more focus on the uniquely human skills that AI cannot replace, while handing off more mundane tasks to AI-powered tools

Course Description
In this workshop, we’ll use presentation and class exercises to examine each step of the double-diamond design thinking process and show you where AI-driven tools can assist, as well as where your human talents are most needed. Here are a few of the topics we’ll cover:

> Understanding the mental model of artificial intelligence and learning how to write prompts that will provide the best results

> Using AI-powered tools for producing research summaries and identifying outlier findings

> Developing archetypes and personas based in synthesized research

> Writing “how might we” problem statements with AI writing tools

> Rapid idea generation for prompting initial strategies, and then narrowing them down by testing against user needs, feasibility, and business goals

> Using AI to assist in the prototyping phase to anticipate user objections and edge cases

> Creating user testing scripts, and summarizing test session notes into concise reports
