for SVC Web Site |
|
Tim: Entry-level Designer First Time Visitor, Full Program Tim. 26. wants to get a job as an entry-level graphic designer. He put together a portfolio at Seattle Center Community College and has been showing it around at different design firms. One of the designers he interviewed at The Leonhardt Group told him that his book needed more work, that it wasn't particularly conceptual, and recommended he consider taking classes at SVC. Tim had never heard about SVC, but he looked at the web site when he got home from the interview to see if the School made sense for him. He's most interested in reading about the programs offered, and seeing examples of student work--and hearing about their success in getting jobs--before making a commitment. If he's interested, he'll want to set up an interview at the School. Tim viewed the site on his iMac (15-inch screen) through his cable modem access. Jessica: Advertising Copywriter
Student Dave: Communications Manager First Time Visitor, Single Class Dave, 36, works in the communications department of a municipal transit system where he's in charge of the system's web site. The site was already developed when he took the job, and now Dave would like to see it revised and made more current. He intends to hire a Web design firm to do the work, but he'd like to know a little more about what goes into making Web sites so he can be a better client. His goal is to learn about HTML and Web concepting. A co-worker mentioned to Dave that SVC offers classes on these subjects, so he checked the site out from work, where he has T-1 access and a Win98 machine with a 17-inch monitor. Dave wants to know what the courses cover, how much they cost, and when they're offered. If possible, he'd like to sign up and pay for the classes online. Juliet: Graphic Designer First Time Visitor, Instructor Juliet, 41, is a senior designer for Hornall Anderson Design Works. She received an e-mail and phone call from one of the directors at SVC asking if she'd be interested in teaching a typography class next Summer. Juliet was generally aware of SVC, but hadn't looked at the web site before. She wants to get a sense of the place, see if it's serious, and find out who else is instructing. She'd also like to see some student work to determine if this is worth her time. She'll visit the site from work using a Mac G4-500 with a 19-inch monitor via DSL access. |
