SVC Announcements

There's usually quite a bit going on around SVC, but we'd be happy to share events from the rest of the design, ad, and marketing world. Let us know about your shindig and we'll mention it here. Meanwhile, if you have questions about any of these upcoming happenings, you can drop us a line, too.

SVC tiptoes into viral video

Posted June 10th, 2010

A few weeks ago, the gang attending our one-day workshop on making and distributing web videos took to the streets to spend an hour shooting a demo piece so everyone could get familiar with cameras, sound equipment, and editing. What they produced in a shockingly short amount of time is worth sharing. So take a look.

Been laid off? How about a 50% discount?

UNEMPLOYED DISCOUNT

What Is It?
If you’ve been sent on an extended vacation not of your own choosing lately, SVC would like to help out a bit. We’ve set aside a few spots in each of our classes and workshops that we’re making available at half the usual tuition.

How Do I Qualify?
You’ll qualify for this discount if you meet these guidelines:

1. You were laid off in the last 12 months and are receiving unemployment benefits.
Or: 2. You are an independent contractor who has been without work for at least 6 months.

How Do I Get The Discount?
We need to hear from you. Send us a quick email with the following:

1.  Either: A copy of a recent unemployment pay stub. A scanned copy can be emailed to info@svcseattle.com, faxed to 206.382.9622 or, mailed to 500 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109.

Or:  If you are a contractor we need a letter from your staffing firm stating the end date of your project and a little information on how your work situation has changed.

2. The name of the class for which you are requesting the discount.

3. “Request for Unemployed Discount” in the subject line of the email.

Really Good Frequently asked Questions:

Once I qualify for the unemployment discount how do I register?
Once we have received your request and documentation, we’ll check to see if there are any unemployed spots left in the class and get right back to you. All reserved unemployment discount spots are on a first come, first served basis, so hurry!

How do I secure my spot in a class?
Payment is the only way to secure an unemployed spot. Once we let you know that you are eligible for the discount, just give us a call and payment can be made over the phone.

Can I reserve an unemployed discounted spot?
We’re sorry, but no, we cannot reserve any spots. Once we notify you that you are eligible for the discount, just give us a call and payment can be made over the phone.

I have a voucher, can I apply it to my discounted class?
We’re sorry, SVC is unable to accept vouchers, other discounts or payment plans for a discount spot.

Can I do the payment plan to pay for my discounted class?
No, discounted classes cannot be paid for with a payment plan

Are there any other fees?
If this is your first 5 or 10 week class at SVC, you will still need to pay the one-time $45 registration fee.

I’m interested in taking two classes, what do I do?
We are happy to reserve a spot for you in one 5 or 10 class or workshop per quarter at the unemployed discount.

If you would like to take a second class, we also make discounted spots available in our one-day workshops provided there is still room. If you’re interested, please call or email SVC 48 hours prior to the workshop start time to see if there are spaces available.
